About Quantify Environmental
We started this on the factory floor.
Quantify Environmental is an industrial IoT integrator based in Guelph, Ontario, that installs permanent wireless sensor networks in Canadian factories and streams them into one real-time dashboard.
2021Founded in Guelph, Ontario by Dave Fox and Tom Ulanowski
Our story
Most of the factories we walked into were running blind.
Between us we have spent the better part of fifteen years inside Canadian factories — breweries, dairies, food processors, moulding shops, greenhouses. Not in the front office. On the floor at three in the morning with the sanitation crew, in the compressor room with the millwright, up a ladder over a pasteurizer with a clipboard.
And the same thing was true in nearly every one of them. The factory ran on gut instinct, a monthly utility bill and whatever somebody happened to notice walking past. Millions of dollars of equipment, and the only number anyone could put a date on arrived in the mail four weeks after the money was already gone. Good operators. Careful people. Making decisions in the dark.
We tried to fix that the way the industry fixes it — with audits and reports. A report is right the day you hand it over and stale the week after. So in 2021 we stopped writing them and put everything we had into building the company we had wanted to hire: one that installs permanent instruments on the equipment, keeps them running, and stays in the room every month with the people who actually turn the valves.
There has not been a moment when that mattered more. Canadian manufacturers are being asked to make more for less, against competitors with cheaper energy and newer factories, and a great deal of the country's floor space is still running analog. A factory that can see itself can defend itself. That is why Quantify Environmental exists, and it is why the founders are in a truck on the way to your factory rather than on a call from somewhere else.

Our people
Two founders. You will meet both of them.
That is not a figure of speech. It is how the work gets done.

Dave is on a different factory floor every week, and he still gets a kick out of finding a leak nobody knew was there.

Tom wires the sensors, writes the maths behind the dashboard, and will not put a number on a screen he cannot defend.

How we work
Not just another audit or flyby.
Not just another audit or flyby. We are in it for the long haul with your team!
“Nobody likes consultants, audits, or reports. People like action, real-time data — and the independence to make their own decisions.”
Dave Fox, co-founder
We make a point of meeting and working directly with every member of your team, from the 3:00AM sanitation crew to the C-suite.
We install it ourselves
Design, order, build and install the sensor network. One to two days on site, usually without stopping the line, and no subcontractors on your floor.
We stay on the monthly review
The dashboard finds it; the review makes sure it gets fixed. That second half is where the savings actually land, and it is the half most vendors skip.
We build on what you have
Existing meters, PLCs with 4-20 mA outputs, legacy SCADA, spreadsheets your team already keeps — we bring them in. We don't rip things out.

Awards & funding secured
Recognition, and the money we have helped clients get.
Two different things, kept apart on purpose: what the company has been recognized for, and what our clients have been paid.
Awards, recognition and coverage
- Pending[TOM-REVIEW]
Clean 50 Emerging Leader Award, 2019 — awarded to Dave Fox, two years before Quantify Environmental was founded.
Exact official award name to be confirmed. The award date on the post is the year only.
- Pending[TOM-REVIEW]
A Region of Waterloo environmental sustainability award, which Quantify helped Carlsberg Canada win.
Exact award title, year and site unverified — this one is not published until it is.
- Pending[TOM-REVIEW]
AIM2Flourish — the Carlsberg Canada project was featured in the global sustainability programme, and a Flourish Prize interview exists in the archive.
Featured in the programme is not the same claim as winning the prize. Programme naming to be confirmed.

Speaking engagements: NB Power Energizing Efficiency, CFIN, and industrial IoT conferences across Canada.
Event names, years and whether Quantify spoke or exhibited to be confirmed.

Coverage: “Businesses see benefits from city’s water conservation efforts” — Guelph News.
Headline is recorded; publication date and link to be confirmed.
Funding secured for clients
We are networked with the utilities and the agencies, and a good part of what we do is helping a factory get someone else to pay for the project. The wins are real; the figures below are not written yet, because a funding number belongs on this page only once it has been read off the signed proposal.

Common questions
The four questions we get on every first call.
What does an industrial IoT integrator actually do?
An industrial IoT integrator puts permanent instruments on equipment that had none, gets the readings off the floor, and puts them somewhere a person can act on them. For Quantify Environmental that means designing the sensor network for your factory, buying and building it, installing it ourselves, pulling in whatever your existing meters, PLCs and legacy SCADA already produce, and streaming all of it to one dashboard — then sitting down with your team every month to work out what the numbers are telling you.
Where is Quantify Environmental based, and how far do you travel?
Quantify Environmental is based in Guelph, Ontario, and the founders drive to the factory. The company serves Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia, and one client rollout alone covers eight facilities across Ontario, Alberta and Quebec. Being close enough to show up is part of the model rather than a limitation of it — the monthly review happens with the people who turn the valves, not over a screen share from somewhere else.
Do you subcontract the installation?
No. Quantify designs, orders, builds and installs the sensor network itself — white glove, no subcontractors. The same people who walk the factory during the assessment are the people on the ladder during the install and on the call during the monthly review. That is deliberate: hand-offs are where the context about your factory gets lost, and the context is most of the value.
How long has Quantify Environmental been doing this?
Quantify Environmental was founded in Guelph, Ontario in 2021 by Dave Fox and Tom Ulanowski, who between them had already spent well over a decade working inside Canadian factories — energy auditing on one side, automating production facilities on the other. The company is younger than the experience behind it, which is the honest way to put it.

Careers
We are always interested in people who like factory floors.
There is no HR portal here. If you have spent time in a factory — instrumentation, controls, process, maintenance, data — write to a person and tell us what you have worked on.
Open roles: [COPY-TBD].
Legacy defect #13 fixed: a real mailto:, with no leading encoded space.
Come and see what we do.
The fastest way to understand how we work is to walk your own floor with us. A few hours, an honest read, and no obligation at the end of it.
